Seven days is the point at which Morocco stops being a series of day trips and starts being a country. This route runs Marrakech to Fes across the High Atlas, through the gorges, into the Sahara at Merzouga, and back north through the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas where the Barbary macaques live.
It is a private tour: your own vehicle and driver throughout, local guides in the cities, and enough slack in the schedule that a good market or a long lunch does not wreck the day.
A guided day in the medina — the Koutoubia, the Saadian tombs, the Bahia palace and the souks — with the evening free on Jemaa el-Fna.
The Tizi n'Tichka pass, Aït Ben Haddou with a local guide, lunch in Ouarzazate, then the Valley of Roses and the Dadès gorge for the night.
A morning walk in the Todra gorge, on through Tinghir and Erfoud, and a camel trek into the dunes for sunset and the first night at camp.
Sunrise from the dunes, then a slow day: the nomad families of the hammada, the black village of Khamlia and its Gnawa musicians, the dry lake at Dayet Srji, and a second night at camp.
North through the Ziz gorges and the date palmeries, up onto the plateau at Midelt, and into the cedar forest near Azrou where the Barbary macaques come to the roadside. Night in Ifrane or Azrou.
A full day on foot in Fes el-Bali with a Fassi historian: the tanneries, Al-Qarawiyyin, the madrasas and the funduqs.
A free morning in the medina or the Ville Nouvelle, with transfer to Fes airport or onward accommodation whenever suits you.

Booked three things through Atlas Nomad in a week and every pickup was on time. The driver on the Agafay trip went out of his way to find us a quieter spot for the sunset.

A long day but the guide paced it well and never rushed us. Being able to pay the balance on the day made booking from home much easier.
